Follow Jesus
Introduction
This 11 session study is a great follow up to “Discover Jesus.” It helps someone who is new to faith discover what is involved in following Jesus. (If you want to print out this introduction you can download it here.)
We learn to follow Jesus together. Caring for one another, sharing in loving accountability, studying the Bible together, practising our faith together, praying for and commissioning one another. The ‘Follow Jesus’ studies help us to help each other follow Jesus and to build healthy, New Testament style churches.
As people learn to follow Jesus it’s really helpful for them to also learn what a healthy church looks like. Quite often there are some misunderstandings about church that can be let go of as people learn from the New Testament Church. Let’s develop a vision, in every Jesus Follower, of a healthy church!
The Healthy Church Circle
Have a look at the Healthy Church Circle. Each graphic illustrates one of the features of a healthy church. You’ll find each of these features demonstrated or mentioned in the New Testament church, recorded in Acts 2:36-47. Use a copy of the WORKSHEET (below) to practice, to do the DBS and to record your goals.
Here’s the list of healthy church features:
Repent and believe
Be Baptised
Obey the Word
Loving Fellowship
The Lord’s Supper
Pray
Supernatural Power
Give
Gather Together
Worship
Go & Make Disciples
